Develops parking plans for aircraft based on flow and positions aircraft appropriately based on load. Operates vehicular mounted and portable two-way radios to coordinate with Air Traffic Control tower and Airfield Base Operations concerning air traffic information. Provides direction, parking, and ground equipment support for aircraft crews to and from the aircraft and operations. Marshals incoming aircraft to designated parking area using standard hand and/or light signals. Operates and provides preventative maintenance on a variety of assigned equipment and a variety of ground support equipment (GSE). Operates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs BAK-12 & BAK-15 aircraft arresting systems and associated equipment. Checks equipment for serviceability. Positions equipment such as gasoline and diesel engine generators, air compressors and other power generating auxiliary equipment. Installs, positions, rewinds and pre-tensions aircraft arresting systems. Certifies aircraft arresting systems as required. Checks installed equipment to ensure compliance with publications policies, and directives. Inspects, tests, and services components systems such as safety, fuel, lubrications, cooling, air pressure, pups, regulators, governors, and accessory equipment. Maintains aircraft arresting systems including hydraulic, rewind, and pneumatic components. Bench checks components and subassemblies. Tests repaired items. Reviews performance data and maintenance records to determine adequacy of maintenance. Inspects runway, taxiways, and any area around Aircraft Arresting System for foreign object damage (FOD) or any damages of pavement areas.
