Since 1972, Chris Menge’s career has focused on the analysis and control of noise from a variety of transportation, industrial and entertainment sources. His most extensive experience encompasses highway noise prediction and barrier design, outdoor entertainment sources such as race tracks and theme parks, and ground-based noise sources at industrial sites, airports and national parks.For the Federal Highway Administration, Chris developed the acoustical algorithms and finalized the Traffic Noise Model (TNM), FHWA’s state-of-the-art highway noise prediction software. Chris was the Principal Investigator for the recently-published National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 791 - Supplemental Guidance on the Application of the FHWA's Traffic Noise Model.Chris served as a board member and/or officer of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering from 2006 thru 2012.Chris is a member of the Transportation Research Board's ADC40 Committee on Transportation-Related Noise and Vibration.Specialties: Analysis of community noise problems, noise abatement strategies, compliance with noise regulations, development of noise criteria and ordinances.
