Over the course of the summer, I gained first-hand experience of what it will be like working as a process engineer. I worked closely with management under a senior engineer. This experience taught me effective communication and teamwork are crucial in a professional environment. I worked on a variety of short-term and long-term projects that would improve the plant's savings on a yearly basis. Some of the duties I was responsible for: - Worked under a senior level engineer as a process engineer trainee on short and long-term projects for the summer- Actively involved with the management team to improve plant operations; participated in management meetings; reviewed and evaluated engineering data- Assisted senior level engineers by analyzing data on plant water usage by creating a mass balance to implement future savings- Collaborated with vendors to obtain the necessary technical data specifications to achieve more efficient water filters- Gathered technical data to trouble shoot condensate polisher performance and air blower performance- Lean Six Sigma team member: conducted research and performed calculations to reduce acid and caustic usage during a regeneration- Responsible for administrative tasks including writing procedures for the following: Boiler start-up, Filter Plant and Feedwater Plant test instructions- Assisted with planning routine maintenance and yearly shutdowns with the maintenance engineering group

My time at the Community Oven has allowed me to gain effective communication, leadership exeperience, and interpersonal skills. When I first started out I was a busser in the front of the house maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of the restaurant. As years have gone by I've worked my way into the position I am in today. As a shift leader I am in charge of all deliveries, day to day operations in the kitchen and to make sure we are always serving satisfied customers.
