Staff EngineerIimak Jun 2012 - Jun 2017Amherst, Ny, UsResponsible for engineering systems and processes that are related to process manufacturing with focus on ink making operations. My responsibilities include the supporting of design and installation of new equipment as well as upgrading existing equipment. My primary focus is supporting day to day operations within the ink making department along with supporting cross functional team goals and the Fluid Inks initiative on a regular basis with both new products and product development. Highlights:Optimized milling systems by upgrading chambers and media used to increase throughput. Supported Graphic Controls inkjet acquisition by assisting team members on ink making equipment and standard operation procedures.Critical team member on the Specialty Inks acquisition. Spent three months in Long Island, NY to learn processing techniques and formulations in order to integrate this ink making business into IIMAK.Started to get involved with the packaging side of the acquisitions and worked with team to come up with floor plan to optimize process and installed new equipment for ergonomic improvements. -
EngineerIimak Jun 2008 - Jun 2012Amherst, Ny, UsResponsible for designing and implementing new ink and coating products through use of internal processes which include: grinding, dispersing, and milling. Maintain current processes and revise procedures while optimizing through purchases of new manufacturing equipment.Current work includes tolling prospects with Avery Dennison Performance Polymers, Dupont, It's Fresh, and continued growth for new division, Fluid Inks.Worked with process engineer from Nanodynamics on scale up of a military funded project known as IR Obscurants. Critical process controls were established through various experiments for first qualification. Developed and implemented process procedures for compounding flexographic inks for tolling opportunity with Fluid Ink Technology. Occurrences of skin inflammations were being reported by employees. With the help of NIOSH, two ingredients were found to be the cause. Ergonomically rearranged raw ingredient room and installed a large scale dust collection booth. Improved quality of Decotherm glass product through research and process changes to the ink coating. Established solid partnerships with Brady Corporation process engineers. This resulted in a decreased scrap rate of 55%. -
Research Engineer InternClarkson University May 2007 - Aug 2007Potsdam, Ny, UsDeveloped innovative methods for compounding silica aerogel through research of various documentations and completion of experiments.Focused on the sol-gel, or commonly known as the chemical solution deposition process; in order to reduce the reaction time through testing of different catalyst materials. Reaction time was reduced by 25% without disruption of its critical material properties. In the upcoming fall semester, began to outline various applications including solar cells and replacement of glass windows. -
Intern / Summer HelpGeneral Mills Jun 2005 - Aug 2005Minneapolis, Minnesota, UsWorked under the direction of Team Leaders and Supervision. First industrial plant experience. Learned various packaging machinery and operations. Ultimately was able to operate packaging lines without guidance.
