Responsible for developing dTAG protein degradation and CRISPR based functional models to validate targets in a drug discovery project in collaboration with a major pharmaceutical company. Confirmed 'hit' compounds from primary screening using reporter, NanoBRET and automated Western blot assays. Analysed and presented data at internal and external meetings with collaborators as well as contributed to other drug discovery projects in the department. Independently generate biological hypotheses and identify suitable cell lines, assays and biomarkers to assess target function and disease relevance using literature searches and publicly available data.

Designed and helped execute sub-cellular proteomics experiments in collaboration with another lab that identified proteins mediating FGFR controlled invasion in Pancreatic Stellate Cells (fibroblasts). Independently, analysed data, identified protein targets and assessed their role in a heterocellular spheroid model of FGFR1 driven PDAC invasion using pharmacological inhibitors and RNAi. Helped to supervise a PhD student and two further MSc students in the lab.

Orchestrated and conducted a project identifying a novel FGF7-FGFR2 autocrine loop that regulates growth and chemosensitivity of the most aggressive subset of Rhabdomyosarcomas (RMS) that harbour PAX3-FOXO1 (P3F) fusions. Furthermore, identified a clinically relevant FGFR inhibitor that significantly blocked the growth of P3F RMS cells in vitro and in preclinical models in vivo and demonstrated that the FGFR inhibitor was synergistic in combination with a standard chemotherapy used in the treatment of RMS. This lead to a recent publication in Molecular Oncology (doi:10.1002/1878-0261.13145)
