As a student of life, I am constantly learning, and improving every day. As a former Director, the job has taught me to have a growth mindset and always be willing to learn, understand and be empathetic. Currently, as a contract specialist, it is intriguing to be on the other side of the spectrum. It gives me insight into the various screenings that vendors must endure to receive funding. Vendors must go through processes such as background checks, violation checks, submit valid OEO ( Office of equal opportunity) documents and much more. However, this does not come close to having a direct impact on people and working closely with them. As a former Director, the direct impact on workers and students gave me the thrill and zeal that helps me persist. Managing a program that consisted of about 160-180 students and a team of 15-20 workers taught me a lot about myself and my passions. I faced and conquered a number of issues related to students, parents, staff, collaboration and many more. My desire is to continue having a direct impact wherever I go.
