A module of Mincom’s main product, Ellipse, was re-engineered with C++ servers on Oracle, CORBA for networking, and integration with IBM’s workflow system, FlowMark. Extensively researched the internationalisation of client-side and database components. This projects formed the blueprint for Mincom's distributed architectures for the next five years.ObjectGUI ProjectA 2½ year project implementing a GUI development environment for Mincom’s Ellipse project. The project successfully enabled the conversion of Ellipse from a 2-tier to a 3-tier architecture, providing the necessary framework to re-engineer 500+ form-based screens into GUIs. Responsible for the design of the UIs, contributed to the development of the UI framework in Borland Delphi, wrote Look & Feel guidelines for the Ellipse product, trained staff in UI design.MUI ProjectA 6 month project creating tools to translate Mincom’s repository of form-based COBOL screens into an XML-like tagged file format. Constructed a parser in Lex and Perl, running on Unix Solaris, to extract semantic information from the COBOL code.
