pControl ProjectMilestone’s lead product, pControl, is a large-scale, Java-based system for the Finance industry, allowing Fund Managers to efficiently administer operations such as fund distribution, Pricing, Order management and Tax & Accounting requirements.pControl is a 3-tier system, with Java Swing rich-clients, and additional Web clients developed with Kendo and Freemarker; Tomcat is used for the AppServer; Coherence and then later Hazelcast for server and client-side caching; Hibernate for relational mapping; SQL Server and Oracle DBs. (Formerly Mincom Pty Ltd)Selected projects:Minestar ProjectAs part of a team of 20, developed a command-and-control system for the real-time monitoring of operations in open-pit mines. Radio telemetry was collected from mine vehicles, and vehicles automatically assigned to new destinations. Lead a team of 4 developers, contributed to the development of the UI framework and many of the Swing UIs, drafted UI standards, and performed UI testing. Extensively researched the internationalisation of client-side and database components. This projects formed the blueprint for Mincom's distributed architectures for the next five years.ObjectGUI ProjectA 2½ year project implementing a GUI development environment for Mincom’s Ellipse project. The project successfully enabled the conversion of Ellipse from a 2-tier to a 3-tier architecture, providing the necessary framework to re-engineer 500+ form-based screens into GUIs. Responsible for the design of the UIs, contributed to the development of the UI framework in Borland Delphi, wrote Look & Feel guidelines for the Ellipse product, trained staff in UI design.MUI ProjectA 6 month project creating tools to translate Mincom’s repository of form-based COBOL screens into an XML-like tagged file format. Constructed a parser in Lex and Perl, running on Unix Solaris, to extract semantic information from the COBOL code.
