For four consecutive summers (in between which I was attending college), I worked as an intern and general assistant for the health and safety officer and the vice president of operations at Gichner, as well as anyone else they loaned me out to. Most of my work was administrative in nature. My largest project was over the 2019 summer, when I reviewed and updated the company's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) list to ensure workers had the most up to date safety information.

This was part of Messiah University's Work Study Financial Aid program, and the department, Campus Events, functioned as the Custodial staff for much of campus. During my first two years, I was assigned to clean the Theater Hall and the Art Hall in Climenhaga Building. In the third year, as part of COVID-19 precautions, I was assigned to disinfect high touch surfaces in both Climenhaga and Boyer Hall. In my final semester, I was assigned to vacuum Climenhaga Building, which I did in a team of two other students.

As part of this internship, I assisted mainly in sorting and cataloguing several of the Center's collections. I helped preserve the Simon Collection of photo negatives by rehousing them in acid-free archival boxes and improved the collection's accessibility by organizing the items alphabetically. I also created finding aids for a collection of Revolutionary War-era documents and the archive's oral histories.

As part of this summer internship, I worked as an assistant to the architectural drafters. Among other things, I organized and updated their customer contact list and did some basic drafting using AutoCAD.
