Utilized existing, proven, and off-the-shelf technology as one of two electrical engineers within a small interdisciplinary team tasked with generating novel machine designs.Developed processes for the use of AutoDesk’s Electrical and 3-D modeling software to reduce design and manufacturing times and increase product reliability.Communicated with vendors to improve their product lines, create new components, and rectify software and user interface issues.Created cost saving solutions to be applied throughout the company by standardizing on parts, utilizing off-the-shelf components, and applying existing technology from within the company to reduce costs.Engaged in opportunities to gain knowledge by travelling to various plants, vendor locations, and mine sites, while also providing assistance to other internal product groups by exploring additional industries for solutions to mining machinery problems.Within seven months of being hired, I quickly learned the software platforms and designed the electrical system layout and wiring diagrams for a prototype machine that was sold for $3M and is touted as the flagship product for revolutionizing the block caving industry. I oversaw the manufacturing to correct design flaws by employing on-the-fly improvements and communication skills.Traveled to Australia twice for a total of nearly 2 months to establish a good customer relationship and assist with the assembly, commissioning, and troubleshooting of the prototype machine.
