I am a class of 2023 Westfield State graduate with a Regional Planning degree and minors in Sustainability Studies and Ethnic/Gender Studies. I currently live with my parents, a younger brother, and I have a dog called Charlie. my hobbies are biking, walking, listening to music, watching movies and anime, and gaming (video, board, card games, etc.), and I'm open to exploring more hobbies as I get older. I was diagnosed on the autism spectrum at a young age and have grown to accept my uniqueness as a member of the ASD/Aspergers community. I am "neurodivergent," which is a way of saying that my mind perceives things around me differently because I have found that I learn and process things differently from most other people. I have learned to accept my neurodiversity as a part of who I am and use it as a way to learn about what I can accomplish for others and myself as I navigate the adult world. For several years, along with high school and college commitments, I began to establish my presence in the working world as a part time employee working at numerous grocery stores and as a volunteer. I participated in fellowship work for the Kiwanis family, which was through my school's Circle K Club, and volunteered locally during the height of the COVID pandemic in 2020 and 2021. I have worked at three different grocery stores working primarily at the front end, with jobs like managing the cash registers to bagging to helping customers take their groceries out to their cars. In these roles, I learned about good customer service skills like greeting and asking customers if they would like help out and working efficiently to get the job done in an efficient manner. Volunteering as well as working as a grocery clerk improved my people skills by helping me connect with the customers in a way that made them feel more included and sympathetic of their wants and needs.
