Biomedical engineering is my passion. It is the integration of two fields that embody the spirit of discovery and the opportunity for innovation. Each discipline drives the other, as new biological discovery requires the creation of technologies that allow researchers to observe, record, and analyze micro-scale environments within the natural world. Conversely, the development of new technologies then allows scientists to integrate those technologies in their work and challenges them to make new discoveries on biological processes would have otherwise been impossible to research. Ultimately, the continuing symbiotic relationship between biology and technology allows scientists to create solutions and gain a sense of understanding of the world's most taxing healthcare dilemmas. Regenerative medicine, the application of engineering principles for the improvement and reconstruction of damaged tissues and organ systems within the human body, is intended to improve quality of life. Biomedical engineering is one of the few fields where the drive to research, invent, and advance comes from a desire to better the lives of others. This is what fuels my passion as a biomedical engineer, and what compels me to succeed.
