Many people dream about starting a small business. The challenges can be quite daunting. Even with ample capital and community support, most businesses, according to the statistics, fail to make it past the five-year mark. When my partners and I started our small expediting business in 2014, with a handful of clients and a stretched-out credit card, we knew the odds were against us. Although I have since left the fold to pursue a new career path, I am happy to say the business continues to provide needed employment and delivery/expediting services to the underserved Baltimore region. Those years of experience were invaluable to me. Working with international law firms that were often under extreme pressure to make deadlines, I learned that consistency and communication were the fundamentals of a good business relationship. I also gained valuable experience working with real estate and legal documents, which has helped me transition to my new role as a Proofreader and founder of Letter City LLC.
