Christopher Ormandy is Founder and Director of MammBio Pty Ltd, a Visiting Scientist at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and a Conjoint Professor in the St Vincent’s Hospital Clinical School, UNSW Sydney.MammBio Pty Ltd is a spin out company from the Garvan Institute based on a patented discovery made by the Ormandy Laboratory, which revealed a new mechanism of lactation control (PCT AU/2018/050986, Plos Genetics 2017). MammBio seeks to replace the use of prophylactic antibiotics in the dairy industry with a novel non-antibiotic protection against mastitis, to reduce the risk to animal and human health from antibiotic-resistant bacteria.Prior to 2023 he was Head of the Cancer Biology Laboratory, and Coordinator of the Cancer Biology Program within the Cancer Division at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and Kinghorn Cancer Centre. His laboratory focused on mammary gland biology and breast cancer.
