My project involved in vivo bioluminescence imaging to gain insight into the infection process of the fish pathogen Yersinia ruckeri. An additional part was to discover genetic methods to distinguish between serotypes.● Conducted animal infection experiments including isolation and identification of bacteria.● Examined the feasability of in vivo biolouminescence imagin in rainbow trout. ● Utilized molecular biology tools including but not limited to DNA isolation, PCR and Southern blotting.● Cared for research animals at time of challenge and in general holding.● Developed serotype specific PCR primers for a fish pathogen.● Analyzed lipopolysaccharide by extraction and SDS-PAGE.
