Energetic and motivated young professional, excited to sink my teeth into both large- and small-scale hazardous waste sites, and by no means afraid to get dirty. I am interested primarily in the design and installation of remediation systems, both "hard" engineering and "soft" in-situ techniques. As a student of bioremediation, I recognize the potential for bacterial and fungal degradation of organic contaminants. With a greater understanding of the limits to their growth and success, I believe that we may be able to improve the viability of such techniques in the wintry North. My previous and current employers have utilized both hard and soft approaches in site management, with varying degrees of success. I intend to learn from those very real case studies. My experience with hard engineering approaches, such as air-sparging, pump-and-treat-, and multi-phsae extraction (MPE) has taught me first-hand about the high cost of ongoing maintenance and power consumption. My primary objective is to protect the nation's water supplies at a cost that can be met by benefactors without the need for copious State/taxpayer money... As such, identifying alternative funding sources for the improvement and protection of ground and surface water is a must, as State funding is becoming more diffuse with tightening standards and burgeoning budgets. My primary objective is to first further my education so that I may enter these kinds of conversations. For the time being, I am happy with the work I perform and the improvements I make here in beautiful Vermont.
