I went through the academy to become an FDNY EMT and have learned all the information and skills necessary to provide medical care to those people in need of it. I have learned more than I have ever thought I would and my knowledge continues to grow day by day.

Professional SummaryAs an Emergency Medical Technician, my job is to provide medical care and transport people to the hospital where they can receive definitive care by nurses/doctors/surgeons. I went through the FDNY EMT Academy for 17 long weeks where I learned everything there is to know about being an EMT. I learned what my scope of practice is (the skills and abilities I am able to perform under the license and certification I have received), and also how to use these skills and the knowledge I have gained in the necessary times. The job is not easy and comes with many hardships. I am going to see things that I have never thought of seeing before and the academy has prepared me for all of this the best they could. I was put through different courses, scenarios, and lectures in order to prepare me for the unthinkable things that will be seen within this job.- This job comes with a rough schedule along with very long work hours where I will be working to provide care to patients throughout the entire day.- I will be working one on one with patients providing the care they need and using all the skills I have gained through the academy.- I will be giving hospital presentations as to what has happened with the patient and what I have done to help their needs.Although this job is not easy and will take a lot out of me, I could not be more proud of where I am today. It is an amazing feeling knowing I will be helping many people and having a significant impact on all of these people as well as everyone that surrounds them.

I worked as a mechanic on the lane machines. Also did maintenance(cleaning) when it was needed.
