Profile bio

About Christopher Parkin

I am a experienced museum educator and learning manager with a background in secondary science teaching, history of science, and the visual arts. I have significant experience in public engagement, and partnership project management. After 15 years in science education and teaching in London secondary schools, I moved into the museums sector because I was interested in developing a more flexible model of learning offering students cross-curricular experiences in an informal environment. I am also passionate about the value of museums in preserving and making accessible cultural heritage in the form of objects, and about museums as places for social and cultural exchange.I have a wide range of experience in education across many areas of the informal curriculum and of developing strategies for learning in the context of museums. As well as a background in science and design technology teaching, I am passionate about the visual arts and have developed my own practice as an artist drawing on subject matter related to science and the history of science.

Listed skills include Museum Learning, Museums, Teaching, Leadership, and 13 others.
