I function as a lead architect at Broadcom involved with HDMI, MHL, DisplayPort, LVDS, and a wide variety of additional, proprietary, high speed serial interfaces. I am involved in most aspects of the design of these interfaces from spec/standards development to initial H/W and S/W architecture, H/W design, lab verification and bring-up, and customer support.Some specific architecture work that has occurred more recently include:* HDMI 2.0 Feature additions for both the transmitter and receiver* HDCP 2.2 for HDMI. I designed the high speed AES cores for this IP.I continue to provide significant customer support.I continue to work regularly with the systems teams to improve SI and EMI performance. This has become especially important as the speed of HDMI has increased so much. Finally, participate regularly in HDMI Forum, VESA and CEA standards development to promote Broadcom's positions and to ensure Broadcom's HDMI cores interoperate well with other silicon vendors from around the world.

I managed a team of several analog and digital engineers focused on the development of the HDMI RX. I functioned as lead architect and lead engineer. As part of my duties, I designed several blocks including HDCP 1.x, I2C slave customized for use with HDCP, EDID and DisplayID, and several support modules.Later, I architected a secure OPT circuit with appropriate redundancy for use with HDCP Key storage functions.Once HDCP 1.3 was released, I worked with chip teams and marketing to select which features would be most appropriate to add to the HDMI TX and RX cores. Architecture and design of these cores followed. The architecture was performed in such manner as to minimize the necessary updates to the existing IP and to maximize the likelihood of first time success with the initial release.Once the design was complete, I performed synthesis and timing closure on the HDMI RX core.Following the Broadcom acquisition of the ATI portion of AMD, I participated heavily in DTV development. Lead architect for Broadcom's DVI TX and RX solution. Managed the development effort for standalone DVI ICs. Designed the pad ring and performed top level layout for these ICs. The transmitter went into full volume production for several years.Broadcom was the first Silicon vendor adopter of HDMI. I functioned (and continue to do so) as the lead architect for the first HDMI transmitter cores integrated into Broadcom IC's. I architected and re-designed (Verilog) the HDCP 1.x core, realizing significant optimizations and adaptations for HDMI. In addition, I architected and designed the packetizer, TMDS encoders, and several other support modules in the HDMI transmitter. I also worked closely with the remainder of the analog and digital design team to complete the IP development.Once developed, I participated heavily in multiple chip integrations and worked to validate the core in the chip simulation environment. Once fielded, I provided hands on customer support for the HDMI transmitter, enabling them to get into production as quickly as possible.

During the HDMI 2.0 specification development and editing process, I worked with many contributing companies from around the world to to refine and improve their proposals. Once integrated into the main specification, I drove further refinements in the proposals so that the entire specification was consistent. During the comment resolution period, I managed and drove comment closure/reconciliation so that the specification could be released in a timely manner.
