I lead the architecture work for a wide variety of digital video ports including, HDMI, DisplayPort, LVDS, VxOne, and others. I specialize in HDMI as the lead architect and a significant design contributor for Broadcom’s HDMI portfolio. As Broadcom’s technical representative in the HDMI Forum since its inception in 2011, I have served as technical Editor of the HDMI 2.0 specification, and currently serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. I came to Broadcom through the acquisition of Pivotal Technologies in 2001. As employee number 19 when I started at Pivotal in 1999, I led the development of Pivotal’s DVI TX and RX IP cores. Prior to Pivotal, I worked at NASA’s JPL, focusing on optical and RF satellite communication research. I have a BSEE from UC Irvine and an MSEE from USC focusing on Information Theory and Communications.
