Chemical Lab Technician supported customer needs in Quality Control of Uranium Pellets for Nuclear fuel rods. Verified that the Uranium in both pellet and powder form met the Nuclear Regulation Committee Standards for moisture content. Tested Boron coated pellets to make sure that the amount of Boron on the pellets met the customer standards. Operated LECO- RHEN 600 that measures the amount of Moisture on Boron coated pellets. Inspect Uranium Pellets for visual defects including End Chips, Side Chips, and Thumbnail Cracks. Measure Uranium Pellets to verify they meet Customer standards for length, width and density. Operated Mahr MarSurf CD 120 and Starrett HB400, both machines inspect the shape of the pellet surface, including Pellet Dish Depth, Dish Diameter, and the Chamfer. Maintained a safe work environment adhering to OSHA and NRC regulations.
