Environmental Equity Consultants

environmentalequity.comEnvironmental Equity Consultants addresses the disparity experienced by people of color, immigrant and refugee, limited English proficient and low-income communities in predominantly white led environmental organizations. Environmental Equity Consultants believe that access to a healthy environment and the ability to shape environmental policy is a fundamental human right for all people. A person's race, economic status, English proficiency or immigrant or refugee status should not be a limiting factor in that access. Environmental Equity Consultants recognize:• People of color, immigrant and refugee, low-income and limited English proficient communities tend to be affected disproportionately by environmental injustice more frequently than white, more affluent people.• People of color, immigrant and refugee, low-income and limited English proficient communities have not traditionally been at the table to center their experiences within mainstream predominantly white-led environmental policy design. • Race in the United States is the most accurate predictor of proximity to environmentally toxic exposure and climate injustice. Environmental Equity Consultants will:• Inventory organizational structures to identify opportunities for more equitable outcomes. • Strive for transforming organizations to become more dialogue driven with environmental justice communities vs. one directional in policy design, understanding the importance of culturally significant environmental solutions that build trust. • Assist in the design of racial equity and environmental justice policies. • Assist in the design of pathways to employment for environmental justice communities. • Assist in the development of community advisory boards that influence policy design.• Assist in the development of community inclusion and engagement strategies to meet community identified needs that are racially and culturally appropriate.
