Correctional Officer
Gainesville, Texas
JCO II (Juvenile Corrections Officer)Successfully completed a six-week training program to properly and safely handle juveniles released to the state. Additionally, I am trained in Handle with Care (the proper use of force to detain problematic youth). Each day consists of a strict sixteen (16) hour schedule in which I oversee a program that requires 100% compliance by all youth. It is my job as a JCO to make sure the youth are on program and safe at all times. Supervision include checking on youth every fifteen minutes, when in cells, and documenting location and activity. I maintain constant vigilance when the juveniles are out of their cells, making sure they are in dress code, no new tattoos, or other bodily harm. I am to uphold TJJD polices and procedures at all times by giving any problematic youth interventions to stay on program. Noncompliance results in documentation and a security course of action taken. Thorough documentation is required daily for the following: interventions, use of force, security referral, bodily harm, out of area. It is my duty to document any violation of TJJD policy and the documentation is often time sensitive. It is my responsibility to ensure that every student is 100% on task every minute of every day.
