The Goldsplinter Woodworking Studio is the project of Christopher Perryman. Born in High Point, NC, Chris is a 4th generation woodworker who specializes in custom, creative objects in wood. After earning a BFA in visual art from UNC-Asheville in 2000, he lived and worked in Italy, the Virgin Islands, and New Orleans, LA. While his early work was focused largely on conceptual multi-media installations, he eventually began to hone his skills as technician in wood through work in the interior design, architectural, and custom furniture fields. He returned to Asheville in 2007 to embark on a new era of exploration in ideas, material, and collaboration. Goldsplinter executes work ranging from purely utilitarian pieces and repair jobs to sculptural and conceptual pieces for both homeowners and commercial clients. Chris is particularly interested in infusing daily objects with meaning and pursues the expression of ideas and new perspectives in the ancient medium of wood. He is available to take commissions and regularly participates in exhibitions throughout the region and beyond.Specialties: Custom woodwork, furniture, fixtures, and creative solutions as well as furniture design and repair.
