Chris has more than 13 years of experience in the environmental management and business field. He has a diverse range of experience including managing a large portfolio of remediation contracts, overseeing 14,000 HUD environmental compliance reviews as well as working on a wide range of project types ranging from offshore wind, to commercial space, to large infrastructure, transportation and global improvement projects. Mr. Pettit has a proven record of building successful teams who deliver on the finer details, as well as maintaining schedules and completing the big project milestones. He has experience working domestically with NEPA, international environmental compliance and site remediation and overseas experience with conservation.As well as his NEPA and global environmental compliance work, Mr. Pettit has managed projects from the field including specializing in multiphase site investigation and remediation, involving a broad spectrum of environmental media, including ground water, surface water, soil, air, hazardous materials and the use of innovative technologies as remediation techniques.Ocean Wind Third-Party EIS—BOEMThis project entails a third-party EIS analyzing the effects of constructing and operating the Ocean Wind project, located offshore New Jersey. The Ocean Wind project is a 1,100 MW phased development to include wind turbine generators, inter-array cables, export cables, offshore/onshore substations, and onshore interconnection cables. A key requirement of the contract is preparation of an EIS that meets the requirements of both SO 3355 and OFD. To achieve a timely OFD, ICF is providing comprehensive facilitation support to BOEM, including facilitation of public meetings and hearings; facilitation of interagency meetings at OFD concurrence points; facilitation of Section 106 meetings with consulting parties; and assisting BOEM with briefing materials and responses to inquiries to facilitate the DOI clearance process.

I assist with managing Environmental and Historic Preservation Reviews for Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds granted to assist in the State’s recovery from Superstorm Sandy.

Friends of Carson Road Woods is a non-profit organization that oversees a protected tract of woodlands in Lawrence, NJ. I advise the Friends of Carson Road Woods on the environmental impact of proposed changes to the woods, including the addition of a paved bike trail, and present environmentally sound and sustainable alternatives. I also helped develop and manage maintenance plans for the woods and public trails including leading field events to maintain and clear trails.

As a project manager for over 50 active multiphase site investigation and remediation projects. I developed remediation plans for each site to achieve compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. I analyzed results from groundwater and soil investigations and write findings reports for clients. I drafted and negotiated project proposals as well as overseeing project budgets and billing. I interacted with diverse audiences on a daily basis, including clients, public citizens, subcontractors, attorneys, financial institutions and federal, state and local agencies and departments. My representative matters included:Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA): I was the dedicated project manager for CRDA’s on-call contract providing a full suite of services, including technical expertise, site remediation, attendance at public hearings and communication with property owners regarding eminent domain actions. Freehold Regional High School District: I was the environmental compliance manager for the largest high school district in NJ. In this capacity, I advised the chief health and safety officer on environmental compliance at the 6 school locations in the district. I also developed and maintain appropriate health and safety plans to protect field staff, students and faculty and provide resources for concerned parents and public.Bergen County, NJ Department of Public Works (DPW): I was the remediation specialist managing all aspects of site and remedial investigations to ensure regulatory compliance in expedited turnaround times. I advised the Director of DPW and department heads on cost-effective remediation solutions.

I managed, organized and supervised all camp operations including coaching staff, equipment and finances for over 50 camps along the East Coast for players ages five through eighteen years old. I also helped establish a seasonal recreational soccer clinic for over 350 youth players in Lawrence, NJ that continues to run.

As an environmental advisor, I researched business trends in corporate social responsibility, environmental management systems and sustainability. I also coordinated the NJ Entrepreneurial Network Conference, promoting sustainable business practices.

I spent a summer living on the Dutch Caribbean island of St. Eustatius working on conservation issues facing the small island. I designed and built trails through the rainforest and Quill volcano to minimize human disruption of the ecosystem. I taught education programs for local school children on environmental issues and gave tours of the rainforest and gardens. I also consulted with local citizens to create botanical gardens that the community would maintain after my departure.

As an environmental analyst, I researched innovative environmental technologies to improve the site’s environmental performance. I also assisted in pollution prevention and control, environmental monitoring and analysis, and issuing and management of special waste transfer notes to produce and present reports to factory managers.
