Responsible for the instruction of professional military education to Staff Sergeants (E-6) that attended the leadership academy. A major learning objective taught at this school was how to develop and maintain an exercise program that accounted for Marines of all physical skill levels. During this time period I also became a certified High Intensity Tactical Training (HITT) instructor and ran the Marine Corps Marathon.

Avionics Quality Assurance Representative. Prescribed and monitored physical fitness programs for 45 Marines to constantly remain fit and deployable. Supervised and inspected all major maintenance actions on the squadron's helicopters. Ensured, through management of various programs that the squadron was within the aviation standards set forth by the Navy. Identified many problem areas; offered solutions and re-inspected for corrections. Trained, monitored, and qualified over 100 Marines of the squadron at various qualifications. During this time period I led a small detachment that deployed to Retalhuleu, Guatemala, in support of Operation Martillo, to seek out drug traffickers.

I was accountable for the effective and efficient employment of personnel and resources in support of the productive effort necessary to retain aircraft in serviceable condition; keeping my leadership advised on the workload and readiness as it affected flight operations and mission success. I was also responsible for directing maintenance goals for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance; prioritizing and monitoring progress, ensuring tasks were complete while complying with Navy standards. I also volunteered to lead a small detachment for a weapons and training deployment to Yuma, Arizona.

I was responsible for the overall productive effort and material support of the maintenance department. I was the approving official for the Government Charge Card Program, certifying over $250,000 in purchases were for official purpose and in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations. I also served as the Certifying Officer for over $1,500,000 of funds for different Navy and Marine Corps accounts, ensuring the integrity of data supporting vouchers and all purchases were within parameters. I monitored, coordinated, and assigned maintenance priorities to all work centers which led to over 1,800 mishap free flight hours. At this position I also developed and monitored a physical fitness program for 30 Marines of all athletic abilities.
