Dr. Plum possesses a Ph.D. in K-12 Educational Leadership and an M.A. In Educational Psychology. Dr. Plum is a veteran administrator and expert Restorative Practices licensed trainer. He has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and superintendent for over 25 years. As a building and district-level leader, Dr. Plum was responsible for directing support services programming, leading school improvement, creating district-wide curricula, leading NCA accreditation, launching a district-wide K-12 Mandarin language program, creating innovative staffing programs, developing a new teacher induction program, and successfully launching and staffing a high school in the heart of the City of Detroit which graduated nearly 100% of its students and sent over 90% of graduates to 2 or 4 year colleges, universities, and trade programs. Dr. Plum is most proud of his work in co-creating and implementing a clinical teacher preparation and Secondary MAC program in Detroit through a partnership with the University of Michigan Flint. Dr. Plum has served on both the faculty and governance team of the program. Through this program Dr. Plum firmly believes that teachers are being prepared for the challenges and rewards of urban education. Dr. Plum is also a certified trainer of the relationship and culture building approach, Restorative Practices. He has recently developed and implemented instructional and leadership coaching programs with performance metrics in public and private schools, and is responsible for co-developing a Cognitive Behavioral Approach that supports students struggling with anxiety and trauma.Currently Dr. Plum serves as the Chief Executive Officer of a growing educational services company, GPS Solutions, that serves over 25 schools in Michigan. GPS Solutions puts personnel, processes and systems in place to support struggling students, teachers and schools.Dr. Plum also hosts the EdGuru Podcast which focuses on trends in the field of education.
