Laboratory Technician
CurrentSupported the research objectives and goals of the Applied Chemicals and Materials Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).-Used various laboratory instruments such as centrifuge, furnace, chromatographer, microscopes, autoclave, pipettes, pH meter and analytical balance to accomplish routine work.-Operated complex instruments such as nanoindenter, hygrometer and TGA as part of everyday tasks.-Performed maintenance including cleaning, troubleshooting and calibration of equipment and instruments.-Made recommendations of testing schedules and set-up.-Wrote and made recommendations to Standard Operating Procedures. -Trained and gave guidance to other users of various scientific instruments and equipment.-Maintained record of experiments and results in laboratory notebook.Talks:-Gave technical oral presentation to the Material Measurement Laboratory Director’s Scientific Advisors.-Presented a research poster at the American Chemical Society Fall 2011 National Meeting & Exposition.-Gave technical presentation to the Cell and Tissue Mechanics group.
