● Java 17 + 21 for development, Kafka to process and store data, Quarkus as a RESTful microserviceframework which is kubernetes-native. All used to help develop on the Open Balancing Platformteam, creating valuable tools to replace legacy critical national infrastructure.● My responsibilities stretched across over ten microservices but focused mainly on Electronic DispatchLogging and Electronic Data Transfer.● All microservices are deployed using docker on red hat openshift azure, and produced using TDDwhere I created integration and junit tests.● Co-led on the development of Electronic Dispatch Logging, I collaborated with testers and the architectto ensure the functionality of the new microservices matched the expected outputs as the legacyservice. This involved constant communication with the developers of the previous balancingmechanism in order to ensure that third parties utilising the system can retain the same expectationsof functionality over time.● Within Electronic Dispatch Logging I utilised Apache Camel and Quarkus in order to efficiently transfermessages around the microservice and use REST APIs to interact with others, and a TCP/IPconnection to receive messages from legacy control points.● I worked across multiple teams when capacity was available to assist in development, this requiredquick assessment of unfamiliar code bases to add features/fix bugs within a single sprint.

Working on the Open Balancing Platform (https://www.neso.energy/news/start-balancing-mechanism-revolution) writing microservices in Java 17 and 21 using Quarkus as a framework.Docker and kubernetes is also used in deployment of these microservices and Kafka was made use of also.

Within the graduate scheme I have had the opportunity to work across 3 teams.The PEF team in which I spent time using JavaScript, C#.net and Azure. The OBP team where I used Java, Quarkus, Kafka and many more technologies to help develop critical national infrastructure.The STAR team where I am currently working with the OUAF Framework, writing groovy scripts for a C2M application.
