Responsible for the health, welfare, and training of nine Soldiers as the shift leader for a tactical ground control approach radar system primarily operating at Desiderio Army Airfield. Provided instructions and guidance on installation, operations, and maintenance of an Air Traffic Navigation Integration and Coordination System (ATNAVICS). Issued altitude and directional instructions to arriving, departing, and enroute aircraft operating under terminal radar control, to include clearances, weather, field conditions, and safety and traffic alerts. Issued special air traffic control instructions to aviators concerning airfield facilities, emergency landing areas, obstructions, landmarks, local regulations, and observed hazards that affect the safe operation of aircraft. Coordinated with Osan Approach and Desiderio Tower to ensure aircraft separation and landing sequence. Provided real-time precise directions instructing pilots to climb, descend, or turn when sequencing aircraft. Controlled aircraft on arrival and departure operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), Visual Flight Rules (VFR) or Special Visual Flight Rules (SVFR) conditions providing course and altitude correction information vectoring aircraft to the final approach course and ensuring a safe landing. Supervised the cross training of 16 Korean Air Traffic Controllers on setup and operations for the ATNAVICS. Verified alignment and proper operation of the Precision Approach Radar (PAR). Exceeded job standards and contributed to two commendable ratings on Eighth United States Army quality assurance inspections.
