As a research assistant at the University of Illinois, I worked as part of the PHENIX collaboration on the RHIC facility at Brookhaven National Laboratory. I participated in the design of two experimental systems. The first was a gas-flow system for a detector test-stand on the UIUC campus, while the second was the design of what was then known as the Muon Piston Calorimeter, which was eventually installed in the four-story detector.
