Since joining Northern Trust I have spent time developing and improving the reactive maintenance regime and planned maintenance programmes throughout the various regions, to ensure a proactive approach is taken to the maintenance of the portfolio. Supervision, budget monitoring, cost control and quality of work is also a key aspect of my role. I have negotiated and implemented centralised contracts to deliver improved value for money, improved service delivery and standardisation throughout the regions.Due to a recent re-organisation at Northern Trust I have now assumed additional responsibility for the company’s health and safety policy, EPC strategy, asbestos management plan and system and security throughout the company.Alongside the management role, I am responsible for 2 small portfolios which consist of around 20 sites for which I carry out a typical building surveying role. Report writing, tendering and estimating and contract management are key functions of this role.

This role was extremely varied and involved covering approximately 2 million square feet of industrial and commercial property across the North West. I was responsible for all aspects of maintenance including reactive and planned as well as landscaping, cleaning and ensuring statutory compliance across the North West portfolio. The job involved dealing with our in-house contractors and also many external and specialist contractors. Some of my main duties involved managing expenditure and budgeting, carrying out dilapidation and condition surveys, managing and delivering schemes up to a value of £500,000.
