As an Operations Lieutenant, supervise first & second line supervisors, conduct routine audits, oversee criminal investigations and patrol operations to ensure compliance of policies and procedures. Conduct internal affairs investigations and recommend disposition. Monitor case management and conduct employee performance evaluations. Manage state and federal grants involving public safety. Plan law enforcement operations for public safety, and maintain partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement. Assist the Chief of Police with obtaining departmental goals and initiatives. Assistant Commander for the Socorro Police Regional Emergency Response Team (E.R.T).

Served as the Interim Chief of Police, and lead the department while the city searched for a permanent Chief of Police. Implemented several polices and procedures that had not existed in the Socorro Police Department (social media, active shooter, canine teams, Utility vehicle, etc.) These changes reduced the liability and promoted transparency for the agency. Reported to the City Manager’s Office any major developments that affected the city concerning public safety. Implemented active shooter/threat training for the city. Ensure all police department employees were in compliance of professional standards.

Assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit. Duties included coordinating and developing investigative strategies with case detectives to solve various elements of criminal activity that include, but are not limed to; vehicular homicide, crimes against persons/children, property crime, public corruption, drug trafficking, organized crime, etc. Responsibilities included media relations, monitoring case activity, employee performance evaluations for commissioned and civilian personnel, supervise state and federal grants, periodic inspections and reviews. Conduct internal affairs investigations on sworn and civilian personnel. Work with Patrol Operations to determine any criminal activities that are occurring in order to set up strategic operation that target crime in specific areas.

Assigned to the F.B.I’s Cross Border Violence squad as a Task Force Officer. Conducted investigations involving criminal street gangs, organized crime, and narcotics. Conducted thorough and comprehensive criminal investigations involving various criminal activities that include, but are not limited to; burglary, assaults, thefts, sexual assaults, public corruption, crimes against children, white collar, etc. Conducted Internal Affairs investigations on commissioned peace officers and civilian employees of the police department. Assisted local, state, tribal, and federal agencies with criminal investigations. Created partnerships with outside law enforcement agencies that greatly enhanced efforts to conduct criminal investigations involving organized criminal activity. Organized, directed, and executed multi-agency gang member warrant round-ups. Assisted in conducting pre-employment background investigations. Prepared legal documents such as affidavits for search and arrest warrants, criminal complaints, asset forfeiture, civil process documents, etc. Examined legal documents, public records, and open sources in order to solve crimes. Analyzed data for gathering intelligence on criminal activity using several methods ranging from open source, databases, human intelligence, surveillance, informants, etc. Adapt to changes made in penal code area, and manage changes in policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

Patrol Duties that include, but are not limited to; making misdemeanor and felony arrests, enforce traffic and criminal laws, assist other law enforcement agencies. Obtain information from witnesses, victims, and offenders to interpret information to solve criminal cases, and dispose of cases.

In 2009, Deployed to Helmand province in support of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force — Afghanistan. The unit was tasked with targeting “higher value” targets. As a Corporal, duties also included; leading, mentoring, and supervising subordinate Marines.
