I am a people-person and accomplished scientific professional with nearly ten years of experience in biomedical research. Several years ago I transitioned into the pharmaceuticals industry, where I began working as an Oncology Medical Science Liaison (MSL). As an MSL I mainly worked in the hematologic oncology space (AML and MM) with a supporting role in solid tumors (G/GEJ). I covered and successfully managed multiple territories including the upper Midwest (MN/WI/MI), Southwest (CO/AZ/TX), and most recently the Rocky Mountain and Northwest (CO/WA) region. In my newest role as associate medical director I am focused on medical affairs strategy/tactics planning and supporting research initiatives.Prior to working in pharma, I was a graduate research assistant at the University of Minnesota, where I linked two understudied genes to colorectal cancer. Through this experience, I became highly skilled in strategic planning, problem-solving, teaching, scientific writing, and public speaking. Besides defending my doctoral dissertation, I am most proud to have successfully authored a research grant that secured a $50,000 award to support my research. Also, I have to say that I greatly enjoyed mentoring undergraduate researchers. Before graduate school I worked as a post baccalaureate research fellow at the National Institutes of Health. Outside of acquiring essential hard skills, this was a great opportunity to learn how to present high caliber scientific presentations, conduct successful collaborations, and be a flexible communicator.
