Employed as production team lead for the commissioning, start-up and progression on to reliable steady operations for oil/gas major. Heavily involved in system handovers and walk down’s from the construction phase through to commissioning. Responsible for writing, reviewing and implementing standard operating procedures while working alongside technical authorities/process engineers.This opportunity allowed me to develop my knowledge and experience in Greenfield project work.

My daily duties involve the daily running and management of the Production Team, and supervision of the core elements of the production systems on the installation, reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent.The facility is a maintenance intensive asset with a very high workload due to ongoing facility upgrades and a major fabric maintenance program.I manage a multi national crew and work closely with the client to continually improve the safety culture and, further improve operational excellence. I regularly stand in when required as operations superintendent.

I was employed initially as a Production Technician for Petrofac on the Canadian National Resources (CNR) owned Ninian Central. I progressed to the role of Lead Technician after a period of one year of working on the facility.Heavily involved in the day to day co-ordination of work and operations using the integrated safe systems of work (ISSOW) permit procedures. Working alongside and reporting to the Production Supervisor my duties were to maintain and optimize production effectively and safely. As part of my role I was responsible for creating daily work plans for the team as well as giving any guidance needed. I ensured all routines, including PM’s where completed on schedule as well as being the link between disciplines when work scopes were upcoming. The Lead technician role also gave me the opportunity to train and coach others to develop their individual skills as well as enhance my in depth awareness of my duties by passing on techniques acquired.

Before moving in to the Oil and Gas industry I worked on various Top Tier COMAH registered chemical plants. This particular plant specialized in producing PET polyester fibers and resins which would be sold to various customers around Europe. I initially started this as a technician before being moved in to the control room working on a Allen Bradley DCS control system.

My role at DOW allowed me to complete the practical section of my Modern Apprenticeship. This was an excellent opportunity for me to gain valuable experience and put the learnings into practice.I gained experience in a wide range of distillation equipment and control systems, having worked on all areas of the refinery.
