We founded BCA to provide a game-changing middle school experience for families in the Buffalo/Niagara region.Buffalo Creek Academy (BCA) is non-profit , co-ed, privately operated Cambridge International School and a public charter school, serving 5th-8th grades. Its 56,000 members selflessly devote their time, energy, and expertise toward the well-being of their communities, while also promoting aviation and related fields through aerospace/STEM education and helping shape future leaders through CAP’s cadet program. As co-founder, my responsibilities involved designing the school program, drafting the overall program narrative/concept, and operationalizing/establishing the school & daycare plans approved by the Board of Trustees. This included attaining Cambridge approval and the necessary daycare licensure in the State of Illinois. The BES Fellowship is a year-long, rigorous, and comprehensive executive training program in urban charter school creation and leadership. The BES Fellowship is based out of Boston, Massachusetts. During the fellowship year, I travelled around the US, studying high-performance charter and independent schools. Two weeks out of the month were spent on the road, one week in Boston for training, and one week in Buffalo, NY with the Buffalo Creek Academy founding team conducting community engagement. All the while I was authoring the comprehensive charter application. The fellowship also consisted of two short-term school leadership residencies. My first residency was with Harlem Prep Middle School in Harlem, NY and my second residency was with Forte Prep Charter School in Queens, NY.
