Artist, photographer, and writer. Visual art has been included in solo and group exhibitions in the United States and abroad. Written art criticism has appeared in a number of print and online journals, including ArtCat:Zine, NY Arts Magazine, Art Practical, and Square Cylinder. Essays and short-form pieces about art, natural history, and miscellany are published in books, art and culture magazines, and online journals, as well as on long-running blog, Hungry Hyaena. Presented guest lectures at undergraduate and graduate art programs about art's relationship to ecology, ethics, and society.

BAASICS is a San Francisco based nonprofit organization dedicated to exploring contemporary topics through the juxtaposition of art and science. We produce entertaining, free programs that make the contemporary fine arts and sciences accessible and inspiring for a popular audience. Additionally, we aim to foment interdisciplinary exchange and a new genre of experimentation that will move beyond what one of these disciplines can achieve on its own.BAASICS envisions a culture in which the fine arts and sciences are complementary parts of our popular discourse, together able to provide an exceptional understanding of our world and of what it means to be human.

BAASICS (Bay Area Art & Science Interdisciplinary Collaborative Sessions) is a San Francisco based nonprofit organization that produces entertaining, free programs that make the contemporary fine arts and sciences accessible and inspiring for a popular audience.I co-founded BAASICS in 2011. As the Managing Director, I edited all content (blog articles, press releases, donor correspondence) and managed the social media calendar and website updates. I also wrote or created original articles, graphics, videos, and audio slideshows for live programs and the BAASICS website, coordinated all interviews and pre-production field trips, and, with my co-founder, produced the live programs. I collaborated on the design and execution of all promotional materials (e.g., posters and postcards). Lastly, I managed public and private grant applications, sponsorships, partnerships, and all organizational finances. As of June 2015, I’ve transitioned to a purely advisory role (Chief Advisor), serving on the Board of Directors but stepping back from day-to-day work.

As the sole member of the CBS communications team, I created and managed all digital and print media for the synagogue. I created graphics, shot/edited photographs, and wrote all copy for CBS promotional materials, social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn), website, blog, weekly email newsletters, and all official letters to members from the synagogue leadership. I developed and managed the CBS social media and marketing strategy/calendar, and designed and managed the printing/delivery of all supplementary materials (e.g., weekly pamphlets, special booklets, reports, etc.). I maintained and updated the website and monitored online analytics to inform communications planning. I worked across the organization (e.g., preschool, religious school, and Lifelong Learning) to ensure that branding was consistent in all email templates, handbooks, and publications. I also developed and maintained relationships with partner organizations and relevant vendors. In addition to my communications assignments, I was tasked with development aims (e.g., funder identification and grant proposal writing/preparation) and much general administration (e.g., event management, financial tracking, facilities assistance, etc.).

HHMI is a science philanthropy whose mission is to advance biomedical research and science education for the benefit of humanity.Working in the laboratory office of Dr. Jonathan Weissman, I served as a copy editor for Dr. Weissman and all researchers working in the lab, editing scientific publications, grant proposals, reference letters, and other correspondence. Additionally, I managed laboratory accounting, payroll, and, in concert with a financial analyst, monitored and budgeted all federal and private grants. I assisted with the oversight of equipment and maintenance, and organized all seminars, meetings, and special events.

The Rockefeller University is a world-renowned center for research and graduate education in the biomedical sciences, chemistry, bioinformatics, and physics. Working in the laboratory office of Dr. Paul Greengard, I performed many of same duties as I did later at HHMI: editing grants & correspondence, equipment/maintenance management, calendar management, etc.
