Managed all operational aspects and strategic planning for a 5-day traveling leadership training designed to enhance supervisory skills for first line supervisors with annual throughput of 2,500+ students. This course is held at 60+ USCG facilities across the US and abroad over 100 times a year. As Course Director, I supervised 17 senior Coast Guard instructors including two detached teams, overseeing training, qualification, finances, curriculum review, course scheduling, and course attendance, while coordinating with unit leaders, program managers, and Coast Guard training supervisors to ensure alignment with field needs. I briefed senior Coast Guard flag officer level executives on the course status & concerns, identifying key pitfalls and solutions to improve the execution & delivery of the course. I led my team to design and deploy a new contingency theory leadership model that blended risk management and contingency leadership doctrines. This resulted in an in-house Coast Guard model which was implemented across all courses within the Leadership Development Center’s aligned continuum, saving $250K in 5-year costs.I served as an instructor/facilitator on the theories of leadership & management including: performance problem solving, communications, motivation, personal ethics, team building, contingency leadership, the Leadership Challenge® and DiSC® delivered to mid-grade managers and senior executives.Led complex teams, collaborated with leadership programs from other agencies, internal and external partners to enhance course material and expand the delivery of the course.I managed the Leadership Development Center's $1.3 million training material budget, $1.2 million in student and instructor travel costs, and was responsible for a property list of 160 items worth over $140K.Skilled Microsoft Office user: drafted policies, memorandums, operating procedures/guidance, reports, course instructional content and powerpoints. I served as the Assistant Engineering Department Head (Asst Engineer Officer), supervising all engineering divisions and overall shipboard maintenance and repair. I accurately portrayed all engineering concerns to shore side asset support and the cutter's Commanding Officer, providing recommendations and simplifying complex systems into actionable information for operators to use. I was also responsible for the coordination and management of all engineering projects and contracted ship repairs. I analyzed necessary repairs, compared technical publications and system drawings to the installed system, and wrote contracted work descriptions. I submitted backlogged repair requests to shore side asset support to approve contracted repairs. I oversaw contractor planning and execution of the repair projects ensuring work specifications were followed.I coordinated interdepartmental efforts to adapt the Cutter's Watch Quarter Station Bill (emergency stations) to account for departing crew members. Rotated senior members out of key billets & trained replacements prior to crew turnover, building crew resilience to sustain the 72 day patrol.I initiated & led interagency training initiatives for all three Boston based cutters. Utilizing local resources, I capitalized on the training needs of the Massachusetts State Police divers & employed them to conduct hull inspections / cleanings on the import cutters, providing valuable underwater footage of the hull and ensured readiness for a major maintenance availability. I partnered with the Boston Fire Department to develop & conduct the first hands on fire drills in a decade for three Boston cutters to improve Fire Department knowledge & repose to cutter emergencies.I fostered robust partnerships with the Coast Guard Base Boston Industrial Production Facility & commercial contractors. I resolved differences between shipboard members and the union tradesman, finding common ground to accomplish repairs ahead of schedule.

I promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and more senior Naval Engineer onboard Coast Guard Cutter SENECA. I led the Damage Control division and was responsible for proper operation, repair, & management of all Damage Control (DC), aka emergency equipment, to include fire extinguishers, fire suppression systems, dewatering systems, hole & crack repair tools, all shipboard fittings/doors/ladders, and the ship's compartment labeling system. For a 5-month period, I led 2 divisions, supervising 2 Chief Petty Officers, 8 Petty Officers, and 5 non-rated personnel while managing a combined budget of over $100K. I executed & monitored the DC Personnel Qualification Standards to ensure everyone on the cutter was trained in the usage of the ship's firefighting & emergency equipment. I pursued real-life training scenarios; coordinated logistics for 124 repair party personnel to attend DC & Live Fire training at U.S. Naval facilities. As training team leader, I developed, ran, & debriefed drills for the entire crew. As an adept public speaker, I balanced positive/constructive feedback & boosted unit motivation during a 15 day lengthy training period to earn a 97% average drill score. As a training board member, I shared methods of success and reduced training team deficiencies ship wide.Demonstrating my Naval Engineering capabilities, I worked with shore based Coast Guard engineers to solve complex liquid management & weight distribution problems. In addition, I oversaw multiple dockside maintenance repairs, managed & deconflicted 8 engineering repair project schedules between contractors, industrial facility workers, & other departments, to complete all projects with high quality standards in time for patrol departure. As a leader & supervisor, I balanced crew work-life needs & enabled flexible scheduling when able; I focused on strengths & counseled on weaknesses. I ensured the necessary resources were provided to members going through personal and family hardships.

As a newly commissioned Ensign in the U.S. Coast Guard, I reported to Coast Guard Cutter SENECA, a 270 foot cutter that performed Counter Drug Interdiction, Law Enforcement, Fisheries Management, Search and Rescue, & Alien Migrant Interdiction missions. I served as a Naval Engineer and led the Auxiliary Machinery division, responsible for proper and reliable operation, corrective, and preventative maintenance of all auxiliary shipboard equipment and associated systems including air conditioning, refrigeration, reverse osmosis unit, potable water, steering gear, fin stabilizers, cutter small boats, boat davits, anchor windlass, emergency diesel generators and fuel systems. I supervised 1 Chief Petty Officer, 4 Petty Officers, and 4 non-rated personnel while managing a $35K budget.I proficiently managed engineering projects in maintenance, contracted repairs, & inspection preparation, executed required reports, managed external communications from the cutter regarding engineering casualty concerns, and implemented divisional and departmental training to ensure readiness and compliance. I researched technical manuals & Coast Guard policies to identify & procure the necessary parts from the optimal supplier, for maintenance & repair, and oversaw training and document transitions for newly acquired cutter assets.I finished 1st in class at Damage Control Assistant school, a course required for Naval Engineers; I created study guides and tutored classmates, coaching many struggling students to successfully complete the course of study; all students passed the course.I rapidly attained all engineering qualifications for all pay grades leading up to Underway & In-port Engineer of the Watch. Additional qualifications included Deck Watch Officer, Gas Free Engineer, Fueling Officer, & Training Team Leader. I also held highly visible collateral duties including Urinalysis Coordinator, Safety Board member, & Engineering Property Custodian responsible for a $59K account.

Coordinated and planned monthly section meetings to enhance professional development and to keep members abreast of current technology.
