Specifically I worked on metabolically engineering autotrophic bacteria to convert carbon dioxide and hydrogen to n-butanol. I worked on developing and characterizing mutants that possessed higher resistance to n-butanol toxicity. Additionally I attempted to characterize long chain hyrdocarbons that were produced by various cyanobacteria.
