To set up and re-brand USAR in its current form and integrate onto Eastleigh Fire station a new Specialist and Technical Rescue Response for HFRS. Skill sets for the technicians on station will include confined space rescue, rope rescue L3, USAR, and specialist vehicles whilst maintaining our National and International (UKISAR) responsibilities.

My role of a USAR technician is to carryout Search & Rescue operations at large scale natural & terrorist incidents. When this department was set up I was employed initially to help out with policy and procedures. Sitting on national working groups and testing equipment. I am currently a member of the UK International Search & Rescue team and was deployed recently to New Zealand earthquake in Christchuch.I am also a USAR instructor

I am a member of HFRS TRS team which assists all Fire stations in Hampshire with Technical Rope Rescue Capabilities. I have a good working knowledge of most rope equipment and techniques used in the UK and USA. I have been on the winning team of UKRO rope rescue competion 2009. I have attended Rope competions in Belgium (GRIMP) for a number of years both as a technician and Oic.I have assisted Tech Rescue Corps in teaching Rope Rescue, Trench rescue & conspace operations in Trinidad.

Since joining the Fire Service as a Fire-fighter I have progressed to the role of Watch Manager at Red Watch, Winchester Fire station. I manage watch based personnel to achieve our station/group plan. I command these personnel and resources to resolve various incidents from Special Service calls e.g. animal rescues to large fires, these can be dynamic and complicated which requires problem solving skills.These incidents involve working under pressure, gathering and acting on information gained. My strong communications skills allow these decisions to be communicated clearly and effectively.

Rushmoor/Basingstoke

As part of an operational firefighting team, I responded to 999 emergency calls from the public on a watch based shift system at two stations in HFRS. During my years as a firefighter I became proficient as a BA wearer and Fire appliance driver. I attended many courses and became an instructor in RTC (Road Traffic Collisions )and BA (Breathing Apparatus). As a leading firefighter I progressed onto management/command courses at the Fire Service college. This helped me to manage my crews needs both on station and at incidents.
