I was a social care HMI between 2010-2013 then became a social care senior HMI (in the South West and West Midlands regions) for four years, with responsibilities for children’s regulatory services before setting up Emeritus Consultancy Ltd in 2018. Since then, it has been my privilege to work with a number of local authority and independent provider services. I also feel very privileged to use my passion for high quality and impactful services in my role as the Chair of the Bromley Practice Improvement Board and Chair of the City of London Achieving Excellence Board. I have worked in children's social care for 40 years. My experience includes working in children's therapeutic communities, youth work, all aspects of children social care as a social worker, manager and senior leader and head of service, commissioning, managing educational services: SEN, behaviour support services and education psychology.I am a qualified social worker, registered with SWE no: SW35314. I was an Ofsted Senior Her Majesty's Inspector (Social Care) in the West Midlands. In this role, I managed regional regulatory inspector managers and social care HMI. I was responsible for regular liaison and engagement with local authority senior leaders, children's regulatory services in the West Midlands, inspections of local authorities, monitoring visits and quality assuring inspections. I thoroughly enjoyed working for Ofsted, especially with so many talented colleagues in the organisation, local authorities and regulated services and would certainly recommend it.
