I am a dedicated and accomplished scientist with over a decade of experience running a research lab at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation since 2010. During this time, I have successfully secured multiple government and private funding sources, including several large grants from the NIH. My research focuses on the high-fidelity mechanisms of genome replication during cell division, investigating how replication initiates at thousands of nuclear locations and how this process evolves during embryonic development. My lab utilizes advanced genetics, genomics, and imaging techniques on human cell lines and zebrafish models. I earned a PhD in Pharmacology from Vanderbilt University, where I researched mammalian mRNA editing enzymes using protein biochemistry, cell culture, live cell microscopy, and mouse genetics. I further honed my skills during a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT, screening for tumor suppressor and DNA damage response genes using zebrafish. Additionally, I am passionate about training the next generation of scientists, many of whom have progressed to successful careers in academia, industry research, and teaching.
