Mr. Sarsfield has spent the past decade on the front lines of the Health Care Industry. Starting at the bottom of the industry as a nursing assistant, he quickly discovered that patient centric care was a key to good patient outcomes. Even while in this entry level position, he became a leader in implementing practices to increase patient satisfaction, which also had the effect of increasing positive patient outcomes. Early in his health care career, he realized that by moving up the “ladder” he could implement these practices on larger scale. Mr. Sarsfield became a registered nurse, graduating with honors, and then went on to become a critical care nurse, before taking on administrative roles.As an administrator, Mr. Sarsfield was able to mentor new nurses, and set higher standards for his profession. However, he also saw how incompetent leadership could destroy a healthcare institution. He came to realize that if a Board of Directors failed to or were unable to govern, local communities paid a terrible price, by losing services and possibly losing their entry way to the healthcare system. Mr. Sarsfield knows that there are institutional problems in the industry, but he also knows that these problems can be greatly mitigated by good governance and holding managers accountable. There is a reason private equity backed hospitals have double the billings (and it is not price gouging). To give only one example hospitals with poor governance and management do not even bill for all the services they provide. Failure to document properly for services provided, means literally no or less reimbursement. Many dismiss this, because they view health care as a charitable mission, but as an accountant was once told by the Catholic Nun in charge of his hospital network “without money there is no mission”. With this motivation driving him, Mr. Sarsfield has assembled a team of professionals, that have “been there and done that,” to acquire medical transport companies. He sees the problems of the industry as an opportunity to apply efficiencies of scale to increase both patient and hospital satisfaction, while increasing positive outcomes for patients.
