I recently retired after a 30-year career as a First Responder. I spent 10 years in EMS as an EMT-A and a Paramedic with the US Navy and San Diego Fire Department. That was followed by 20 years as a dual role Police Officer and Firefighter EMT with the Port of San Diego. During my final 12 years on the job, I ran our agency's Fire Academy and was assigned to the position of WMD Officer / HazMat Instructor. Part of my role in that assignment was to coordinate and deploy our PRND Operation, which included both landside and maritime missions.My proficency in field spectroscopy and subatomic theory led me to begin contracting with the National Nuclear Security Administration in 2014. I continue to provide expertise to multiple entities within the NNSA in both operational and instruction capacities today.I started REST LLC in 2022 as a means of providing refresher and contemporary training to Public Safety Agencies and Healthcare Facilities after it became clear that most of these entities were struggling to keep their members proficient in R/N prevent and response missions. My Company's motto is 'Train Like you Play'. At REST, we have developed a method of training First Responders and First Receivers in the life threating levels of radioactive energy they are likely to encounter following a radioactive weapon attack, but without any threat to their health or safety.
