Cedar Point is a fast growing Town located in the Crystal Coast of Carteret County, North Carolina. The Town’s permanent population is 1,284 with a seasonal change to approximately 3,000. The Town is only 2 ½ square miles in area, but has experienced tremendous growth in the past 5 years to include residential and commercial construction.The Town Administrator position handles the overall management of Town operations including administering operating budgets between $500,000-600,000 and supervising 5 employees. Town Services include solid waste management, land use management, public works, and general administration. Responsibilities include administering Capital Projects, implementation and enforcement of Planning & Zoning regulations, Financial Management, Grant Writing and Administration, and Customer Service.

Benchmark CMR, Inc. is a local government service company initially established in 1982 specializing in community, city and town planning, community development, land use plans, annexation, zoning, development ordinances, public administration and code enforcement activities for public agencies.The Senior Planner/Consultant position handled all current and comprehensive planning activities for three coastal towns within Carteret County, NC. Other duties performed as a consultant included the training of the Lenoir County Planning Specialist and the assistance in the development of the Carteret County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, Washington County CAMA Land Use Plan, and the Wayne County Consolidated Plan.

Lenoir County, NC is centrally located in eastern NC. The county has a blend of agriculture and manufacturing opportunities. Lenoir County as a population of approximately 59,000 and is also home to the North Carolina Global TransPark, a uniquely designed business park providing an integration of various types of transportation systems to provide opportunities for better logistic management. The Planning Specialist position handles all current and comprehensive planning activities along with assisting on Capital Projects, Grant Writing and Administration for Lenoir County. Numerous projects completed during my employment includes expanding the Town of Pink Hill’s Centralized Sewer System into portions of the southern, unincorporated, portions of the County, Heritage Tourism Projects including Civil War Battlefields preservation, and the Lenoir County Landfill Five-Year Cell Expansion.
