Contemporary Clay is a vehicle through which I provide a variety of services and products that create intimate experiences with a timeless medium.In this sole proprietorship I execute the design and production of ceramic art objects. I plan and curate art events requiring retail logistics, press releases, accounting procedures and coordination of artist participation. I develop web content for promotion of art events and design and print hard copy promotional media against schedule deadlines. I manage distribution of work through a variety of retail locations and manage sales accounts. Professional memberships, expenses and tax reporting are all maintained accurately as yearly profits increase.

At Halas Engineering I participate in a variety of projects preparing structural engineering calculations, generating construction plans and organizing/researching code and zoning information critical to project goals. I participate in client meetings and site visits/inspections. Shifting and urgent deadlines require expert time management and proactive scheduling. In this small company the ability to embrace or originate creative solutions to diverse problems is critical to ensuring client needs are met, and client relationships are maintained. Projects include retrofit, Tenant Improvement, residential new construction and commercial additions.

As Staff Engineer I worked closely with senior engineers to produce structural calculations for a variety of projects. Calculations were performed in accordance with current IBC and ASCE code requirements. Where required, I performed software analysis. Projects included residential wood and steel framed construction, construction support, and tenant improvements. In addition to execution of structural calculations I prepared plans and details for drafting production, performed review/backcheck of drafted plans, performed review of submittal/fabrication drawings, prepared Request For Information (RFI) responses and other construction administration work. Communicating with clients (architects/contractors/home owners) to coordinate job requirements was a requirement of this position.

As a Designer, I was responsible for designing and drafting concrete shoring and forming construction plans utilizing manufactured steel and aluminum beams and scaffold frames. Considerations in my designs included construction sequences/schedule, efficiency, and structural loads on equipment. Variable compression loads on vertical support members were also considered. I participated in frequent interaction with construction contractor clients as part of the design process. Project specific design challenges and contractor preferences are challenges I routinely managed. Job billing and formalized correspondence between subcontractor, general contractor or structural engineer were part of my regular duties. I incorporated effective time management an essential component to maintain a demanding schedule consisting of multiple projects. Responsiveness and urgency are important for meeting frequent and shifting deadlines.

I worked as a CDI Technical Services contracted Drafter for Georgia Power. Working within a team of Drafters I created, corrected, and updated electrical power line maps using a tailored version of AutoCAD 14 software in conjunction with a digitizer. I was responsible for completing all the mapping jobs in three geographical areas. Along with processing mapping jobs, I worked with a database to chronicle my work, and receive jobs sent from regional offices via e-mail.

I worked with Bechtel staff under the direction of the facilities management office. My duties included accurately drafting as-built building plans and other relevant drawings for inclusion in an emergency services GIS master map. Building measurements were frequently required to be taken on site. I also worked with GIS software, to review a facilities information database, and identify errors.
