Lead Designer
Senior Software Engineer
I was a senior software engineer with the API Enablement team developing enterprise-wide support infrastructure applications for Home Depot API service teams and bolstering enterprise network architecture with new, more resilient, yet highly supportive, technologies. This work was exclusively backend focused and primarily executed with newly developed Go APIs and Terraform Enterprise for orchestration. I also was part of an engineering team dedicated to assessing, maintaining, and enabling cloud technologies for internal use. Along with fellow engineers, we developed an entirely new internal platform for supporting these technologies at scale for The Home Depot’s growing needs. Working closely with backend Go developers and Go APIs, we architected a dynamic frontend strategy dramatically improving the developer experience as the supporting team as well as providing a more catered and convenient UI experience for our users. This new approach to frontend architecture was previously unrealized at The Home Depot, but is designed to accommodate scale and is highly extensible. As part of this effort, I leveraged my unique background and also built a “micro” design system to support the UI experience offered by the platform. The scale and extensible nature of the code is equally matched by the visual design. My experience in UX allows me to make innovative uses of UX practices in engineering design and development in unprecedented ways.
Ux Designer & Front End Developer
I was a UX Designer & Front End Developer at The Home Depot Store Support Center in Atlanta, GA. I worked on the UX Operations team and helped provide resources and support to over 150 Enterprise UX designers in product spaces across the organization. Along with another designer and developer, I played a prominent role in architecting an entirely new design system to drive visual consistency and front end development standards throughout Information Technology at Home Depot. I researched, designed, developed, and maintained a central documentation resource for the core API services that are the backbone of the Home Depot software infrastructure. This resource was turned into a model to be used by any internal organization area utilizing an API-based service. With a highly diverse background and the ability to serve as any of the various central roles of a product team, I am able to fill needs in areas many traditional designers cannot.
Graphic And Web Designer
I was a graphic and web designer for UNC Creative at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I produced print and digital assets, website designs, as well as provided UI/UX assessment of digital projects for clients within the university. I was involved in branding management and enforcing brand identity. I worked in a very fast paced environment with quick project turn around times and I was responsible for handling all contact with clients following the initial communication.

I have also produced entire branding guides to ensure a cohesive application of design throughout development.I work independently or with other designers and developers to create effective and user-friendly front-facing features for clients. I regularly take designs or mockups generated by myself or another designer and translate them into working code via web mark-up and client-side languages such as HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript as well as advanced JavaScript libraries such as jQuery and AngularJS.I frequently use responsive, mobile-first design frameworks such as Bootstrap (v. 3, v. 4) and Foundation (v. 5, v. 6) to ensure the best possible user experience across all viewports and devices.I have experience with many content management systems, but I primarily use Wordpress for this position. I often work with and in SQL databases, which includes writing SQL queries, to setup local, test, and production environments for Wordpress sites and handle migration from one environment to another.I work within pre-existing Wordpress themes as well as generating my own fully-functional custom themes in PHP depending on the scope and need of the project. I regularly work with the WP REST API for accessing and retrieving content for custom theming and custom plugin creation. Through custom theming, I also work directly with AJAX and the jQuery API for unobtrusive partial page updates. With my unique background, I am frequently called on to write training documentation as well as educate the client on the use of their site through non-technical language and face to face training sessions.
