Neurocognitive aberrations in the demented elderly have been ascribed to proteins that transmogrify themselves into rogue ensembles within the conservative brain microenvironment. Across brain cells, the conglomerates seemingly interact with their noxious counterparts to dishevel virtually all the inner workings of a normally functioning cell. With a secret longing to explicate these pernicious sequelae of events, my current stint as a postdoctoral scholar at Harvard involves working with genetically engineered models to better comprehend the pathogenetic underpinnings of such degenerations.
