Developed Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) integration with BACNet stack and high speeds proprietary SPI interface. Implemented python based C code generation tool that could convert the modbus registers description from CSV file format to sorted C table. This tool allowed a team of 6 to work on the register descriptions and format in Confluence and generate code to to access an synchronize the registers to a local cache. As a scrum master, I support integration of the Delta Controls team with the parent companies VFD development team to resolve interface a communication bugs that were blocking the project. Developed software port layer for IPv6 network stacks to 6LoWPAN stack:• Created port layer for virtual selection of the network stack to be use by the 6LoWPAN firmware. • Ported InterNiche IPv6 network stack to the Exegin 6LoWPAN stack by creating a network interface driver.• Creation of virtual network stack based on port layer to allow unit testing. Delta-Q Technologies

Developed software drivers for next generation of IC charger product line:• Extended driver architecture developed in the iC650 architecture to support additional PWM and ADC channels peripherals needed for next generation IC series chargers.• Developed Tachometer module for input pulse counter hardware from MTU peripheral.

Completed a contract to migrate a product months away from release between Renesas RX621 and RX631 microprocessor. During the migrations I was able to rewrite some of the SPI driver increasing its throughput by 5%. The migration included migration and testing of USB, RTC, I2C, SPI, PWM, DAC, ADC, IRQ, Hardware Timers, Low Voltage Detection, External Bus Controller. A second contract was completed to develop a USB Device application on Renesas RX631 and added ADC sampling for a temperature sensor to the product.A third contract development covered integration and compliance testing as well as large portion of the embedded GUI. The results of the integration testing were the identification and resolution of a significant LCD signal timing issue which would have voided the LCD warrantee. Furthermore, the GUI was rewritten to be state event driven resulting in a vast improvement in GUI performance and resource use. Several key system architecture problems were resolved resulting in the improving the system RAM heap size by 1750 kB. Further identified issues with how the Zigbee network commissioning was being used which was resulting in possible issues in an enterprise deployment as well as ongoing connectivity issues experience in beta.

Architect and Embedded Software Lead of 8 person development team for flagship product: IC650 industrial charger.Developed Software Architectures for IC650 charger product line successfully launching with new customer forecasted at 40K+. I developed and document the component, dynamic and stack views of the software architecture using a layered approach to the architecture to manage complexity of the 170+ KLOC project. I also manage relationship with embedded processor supplier to get advanced debugging tools and early silicon for development team. Built trust between team members by implementing feedback from sprint reviews to improve team performance.Created Software Development Processes to facilitate teamwork and improve productivity resulting increased productivity by 7 man-days per month by: Creating a software release process, selecting and deploying integrated tools bug tracking, code reviews, source control and test. FInally through created and trained the team in quality techniques for development, including test driven design (on and off target testing) and code review process.

Firmware Development lead for the Communication Gateway Product and Developer selected to facilitate unification cross divisional software teams.Redesigned the firmware for the Xantrex Communication Gateway version 2.0 (unreleased) improving performance, remote control and configuration while and eliminating RMAs that result from software upgrades. The new architecture reduced code utilization by 4%, ram utilization by 1.5% while improving reliability and response times of the web site by up to 12 seconds. Rewrote firmware upgrade code and eliminated 5 different code and design bugs that would result in upgrade failures that required RMA of the unit. Developed complete product test plan and supported the test team in its execution. Facilitated unification of team in Livermore with the Burnaby Software team through support of the 500kW Grid Tie (GT-500e) inverter. In this capacity I coordinating between my local functional manager and the remote functional manager of the high power solar software team. Supporting design review, implementing changes that resulted in a code space reduction of 4% during a two-week period.

Responsible for support all six product families and new product development of the Programmable Division at Xantrex.Planned and managed transfer of product lines programmable division with company acquired in San Diego during 8 month period setting the stage for the sale of Xantrex. Planned project schedule using MS Project, created documentation of design and build processes for 6 product lines with disparate environments as well as support tools and drivers.Developed architecture and implemented Software for XTR programmable power supplies meeting additional requirements in a code base that was at 90% code space utilization and 95% RAM by:Designed and planned features including In Application Programming (IAP), Calibration without power cycling, Calibration data upload and download and tools for applying this feature to the product to allow customer upgrade and debugging. Verified the digital design of the XTR main board and GPIB option card. Including identifying several cost saving design suggestions which reduced the BOM cost by $3.25 per unit.Supported Sales Application Engineers (SAE) with all programmable power supply digital control cards questions and problems by resolving technical issues with Boeing contributing to a $100 000 order.
