CurrentAviation Weather Forecasting, Observing, Resource Protection and Weather Risk Management:Communicate actively with base resource protection, ground crews and squadrons on specific weather event risks. Create and publish Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts for NAS Patuxent River, and augment and disseminate hourly observations. Analyze current conditions and predict future conditions to issue and disseminate weather watches, warnings and advisories for the base and local area. Maintain regular communications with air traffic control, base operations and pilots-in-flight to provide real-time support via radio, landline and web warning portal. Issue official aviation flight weather briefs on request and via regular timed updates for daily operations within the region. Analyze and verify numerical weather prediction, analyze surface, upper-air observations and pilot reports. Interpret satellite and radar imagery.
