Secretary of the Working Party on the Transport of Perishable Foodstuffs (WP.11), which administers the Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to be Used for such Carriage (ATP). This includes the preparation of WP.11's meetings (preparing agendas, documents and reports), ensuring the successful conduct of the meetings and the development of work between meetings. I was also responsible for the Joint Meeting of Experts on the Regulations Annexed to the European Agreement on the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways (ADN) which entered into force in 2008, and the ADN Administrative Committee.Prepared the 2013 and 2015 publications of the Regulations annexed to the ADN in English and French (over 1000 pages in length). In the area of the transport of perishable foodstuffs, I helped WP.11 to adopt a revised annex 1 to the ATP and to develop the ATP Handbook, which gives advice for countries on implementing the Agreement.

Assistance to the Working Party on Road Traffic Safety (WP.1) on the preparation of a package of draft amendment proposals to the Vienna Conventions on Road Traffic and on Road Signs and Signals, adopted in 2004, entered into force in March 2006.Promotion of the Vienna Conventions on Road Traffic and on Road Signs and Signals to countries outside the UNECE region (presentations at international conferences in Kuwait and Ghana). Assistance to ESCAP/ADB initiative for the facilitation of cross-border transport in the Greater Mekong Subregion (conferences in Laos and Thailand).Management of fundraising activities for work on global road safety including for the organization of the First United Nations Global Road Safety Week mandated by the United Nations General Assembly.Assistance to UNECE Governments in developing recommendations to improve safety in road tunnels following fires in the Mont Blanc and Tauern tunnels. This work was conducted on an emergency basis and lead to the adoption of a European Union Directive on the subject. The recommendations were issued in 2001.Assistance to UNECE Governments on the extension of the E-Road Network (AGR) to Central Asia and the Caucasus (1998-2002).Assistance in the organization of a seminar in Moscow in 2006 to assist countries in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) with the digital tachograph which they will be required to introduce for international transport by 2010.Transport Division representative for work on the Blue Corridor Project to promote the use of natural gas as a fuel in international road transport, in cooperation with the UNECE Sustainable Energy Division and the Vernadsky Ecological Foundation in the Russian Federation.
