Making carbon fibre components for the bike industry and beyond

Working within the Design Engineering Group, I am mainly responsible for special product designs, from initial costing calculations to production drawings and prototypes for a varied range of new and existing pneumatic products. I have also been involved in long term development projects, liaising with customers, salesmen and engineers in the research and development facilities in Japan.Recent work has been in the control systems area, where I have furthered my knowledge of creating pneumatic and electrical circuits to meet the customer’s requirements for the function of the system. I have played a big part in the successful introduction of large value clean room products.

A varied role in the company’s main research and development centre in Europe, I was responsible for the design and development of both new and existing products, including the creation of project plans and progress reports, within the valves group. Mostly, I was involved in leading a new product development designing a modular valve manifold, completing work from the initial designs to final die-cast moulding parts and drawings. I also utilised SLA rapid prototyping, especially during a month long period of work in the company’s facilities in Japan.
